This balancing wine bottle stand is handmade from a recycled oak wine barrel stave. The piece was worked as little as possible, in order to preserve its rustic appearance. The preexisting angle where the stave meets the barrel head was slightly modified, and the piece was cut to length, drilled, and finished with clear lacquer, highlighting the natural beauty of the recycled stave.
The stand holds one bottle of wine with surprising stability, although its precarious, gravity-defying appearance is bound to get some second looks and comments. It works with all the bottles I have tried, simply by adjusting how far the neck of the bottle is inserted.
